MAIN STREET SHINERS is a dedicated group of volunteers committed to historic preservation and aesthetic enhancement of our beloved downtown district. The citizens of Sallisaw have pride in their community and work tirelessly to ensure our Downtown is a place that is clean, family-focused, and entertaining for all ages. The Main Street Shiners organized in the Summer of 2004 with one goal in mind. Restore our downtown to its natural beauty and its natural origin. These volunteers are working toward installing vintage lighting from the 1920s era, organizing annual downtown events and festivals to attract tourism and camaraderie among the locals, and raising funds to offer refurbishment grants to local, downtown business owners to assist with the cost of capital improvements to their business. These positive changes have already provided incentives to other area business owners to provide a facelift to their store fronts.
